Hive Ransomware Strikes Costa Rica Public Health Agency

On the morning of May 31st, 2022 a Hive ransomware attack impacted the computer network of Costa Rica's public health service and Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCCS). No estimation was provided for the restoration of services. Data housed in databases, EDUS (Expediente Digital Único en Salud) and the SICERE (Centralized Tax-Collection System) citizen health and tax information were not found to be compromised. The Costa Rican Social Security Fund was also impacted by Conti ransomware attack on May 9th, 2022 when Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves declared a national emergency.
