The group uses a complex attack chain involving PowerShell, scheduled tasks, WMIExec, SOCKS5 proxy tool Revsocks, and remote access software like SimpleHelp and AnyDesk.

Further investigation revealed the creation of admin accounts with passwords linked to Russian business entities and interests.
Abuse of OAuth Applications for Cryptomining and Phishing
Microsoft's Threat Intelligence team has identified a significant increase in cyber threats exploiting OAuth applications for financial gains. Attackers are manipulating OAuth, a secure authorization protocol, to automate malicious actions like deploying virtual machines for cryptocurrency mining, establishing persistence in BEC campaigns, and initiating large-scale spamming activities. In one case, threat actor Storm-1283 used a compromised account to create an OAuth application, deploying virtual machines for cryptomining and incurring compute fees up to $1.5 million USD.
