Hive0117 Phishing Campaigns
IBM Security X-Force reports on Hive0117's phishing campaigns identified in February 2022. Targeting electronic, industrial, and telecommunications sectors, the group deploys DarkWatchman RAT through emails posing as the Russian Government’s Federal Bailiffs Service. The campaigns, targeting company leaders in Lithuania, Estonia, and Russia, aim to enable illegal access to numerous clients and end-users. The activity appears unrelated to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Tricks from SocGholish and Zloader
Cybereason reports on SocGholish and Zloader malware. SocGholish uses social engineering for drive-by downloads, leading to Cobalt Strike and ransomware. Zloader masquerades as popular software, using MSI files to collect data and disable defenses. Both malware types show increased activity and pose significant threats to sensitive data.

Mandiant links UNC2452, the group behind the SolarWinds attack, to APT29. This group targets global organizations across various industries, leveraging stolen credentials, phishing, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft365 to maintain persistent access. They swiftly achieve domain admin privileges and adapt tactics upon discovery.
Vigilance for Critical Infrastructure Defense
A joint advisory from CISA and allied nations urges critical infrastructure operators to remain vigilant against potential Russian cyber threats. Recommendations include hardening cyber defenses and identifying indicators of malicious activity to mitigate risks from destructive malware, ransomware, DDoS attacks, and cyber espionage.
TeamTNT Scripts
Cisco Talos analyzed TeamTNT scripts targeting AWS and Alibaba, revealing capabilities in cryptocurrency mining, credential gathering, and disabling cloud security. Their "GRABBER_aws_cloud.sh" script steals AWS credentials, while other scripts download payloads based on system architecture. Notably, they do not disable several US cloud security tools.
Trend Micro Analyzes BlackCat Ransomware
Trend Micro analyzes a BlackCat ransomware attack starting with exploited ProxyLogon and ProxyShell vulnerabilities on Exchange Servers. PowerShell downloads a Cobalt Strike Beacon and DLL, followed by process injection into WerFault.exe for discovery and credential access. The attackers used CrackMapExec for lateral movement before executing the ransomware.
