'Winter Vivern' Hackers Target NATO Officials with Zimbra Vulnerability Exploit
Since February 2023, the Russian-aligned hacking group Winter Vivern has exploited the Zimbra vulnerability CVE-2022-27926, targeting NATO officials, government personnel, and diplomats. Their objective is to steal sensitive emails and conduct phishing attacks, using sophisticated social engineering and spoofing techniques. They also exploit other zero-days like CVE-2022-30190.

APT43, a North Korean hacker group active since 2018, targets government agencies, healthcare, and various industries in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and South Korea. Known for espionage and financially motivated operations, APT43 uses credential harvesting and social engineering to support its activities.
DBatLoader Malware Drops RATs and Info-Stealers in Europe
European entities face a new phishing campaign using DBatLoader to distribute Remcos RAT and Formbook info-stealer. Zscaler reports DBatLoader employs PDF, HTML, OneNote, CAB, and LNK files to trigger malware downloads, bypassing Windows UAC through the 'Mock Trusted Directories Method' for privilege escalation.

AresLoader, a new malware-as-a-service (MaaS), is distributing information-stealing malware by disguising it as legitimate software. Launched by Russian hacktivists, the service has been active since January 2023, with users employing it to deploy threats like Raccoon stealer. AresLoader achieves persistence through scheduled tasks and registry modifications.
Hackers Compromise 3CX Phone Provider, Jeopardizing Operations of Thousands of Businesses
Hackers compromised the 3CX desktop app through a supply-chain attack, potentially affecting thousands of businesses including American Express and NHS. CrowdStrike attributes the attack to North Korea's Lazarus Group, while SentinelOne dubs it "SmoothOperator." The attackers targeted both Windows and macOS operating systems.
BreachForums Website Shuts Down Following Arrest of Site Administrator
BreachForums shuts down following the arrest of its administrator, Conor Brian Fitzpatrick. The new admin, Baphomet, decided to close the site due to security concerns. Despite this, Baphomet plans to redirect the community to a new platform and continue cybercrime operations via a Telegram channel.
