Alex got her start in cybersecurity by following her curiosity—first into satellite communications protecting multi-million-dollar TV ad space, then into detection engineering. With roots in sales engineering and a passion for making complex systems understandable, she now leads product marketing at a startup redefining the SIEM space. As host of the Detection Engineering podcast, she’s focused on building a collaborative, open community where practitioners can share insights freely and grow together. Her work bridges the technical and the human, always with a focus on clarity, connection, and impact.

At Anvilogic, we believe information shouldn't be gatekept. Knowledge grows through collaboration, curiosity, and shared experience.

That’s why we launched Detection Voyagers—a community series where detection experts, hunters, and defenders join forces in a living intel exchange trading playbooks, gotchas, and facepalm moments—so the next generation of alerts sucks a little less.

Why “Voyagers”?

Detection engineering is more than writing rules. We think it's a journey. Each day brings new threats, new signals to interpret, and new paths to explore. Detection engineers are, by nature, voyagers: navigating a constantly shifting landscape with creativity, discipline, and a commitment to keeping organizations safe.

With this series, we’re spotlighting the people behind the detections—their tools, thought processes, hard-won lessons, and the nuances that don’t always make it into official documentation. Think of it as a collection of field notes from the front lines of cyber defense.

What to Expect

Every month, we’ll feature a new contributor from the community sharing a short, tactical post on a topic close to their heart. It might be:

  • A favorite query or detection rule
  • A tricky attack scenario and how they tackled it
  • An emerging threat group they’ve analyzed
  • Lessons from a red team/blue team exercise
  • Tools, frameworks, or workflows that made a difference

Our Voyagers are already guiding the way—join them.
