Blackbyte Returns with Updates
Blackbyte ransomware returns with a new version 2.0 and data leak site. Research provided by BleepingComputer discovered the operators promoting their new site on hacking forums and Twitter. The data leak site currently lists only one victim with a sample pricing structure "new extortion strategies that allow victims to pay to extend the publishing of their data by 24 hours ($5,000), download the data ($200,000), or destroy all the data ($300,000)." Currently, there appears to be an issue with the site as researchers from KELA have discovered it did not correctly embed their Bitcoin and Monero wallet addresses. The pricing model will likely adjusts based on the victim company and it presents a new strategy to extort ransom.
